A Modern Day Angel
This painting was inspired by Hippolyte-Jean Flandrin's "La Florentine." She has a beautiful side profile with soft shadowing, so I decided to make her even more ethereal by adding a gold leaf halo. In my attempt to make her more angelic, she became stronger and more powerful, seeming as if she were a revolutionary figure in history. I am very pleased with this piece. She is also mostly fingerpainted.
